How to Style a Dress for Everyday Wear
A dress can easily feel too dressy for a normal, doing-nothing-special day. To make it feel right, you need to dress it right down so you don't look overdone, especially if you're not a natural day dress wearer. So comfortable to wear in warm weather, my favourite shape is a midi (needs to be longer than mid calf which is the widest part of your lower leg), with a high, empire waist where the fitted part is between the bust and waist which is so flattering. Great with flat or heeled sandals, trainers, and in cooler weather you can layer up with a jacket, cardigan or sweatshirt. This one from & Other Stories is a perfect example of this style.
Here are two ways to wear a midi dress, one look is more casual with trainers, the other is a bit more elevated if you're going out for lunch or a drink (safely and socially distanced of course!).
