Your Workwear Wardrobe - How to Create Dependable, Fail Safe Outfits
invest in hero pieces
—
Building a fail-safe work wardrobe is worth the effort. You want a ready-made curated collection of ready to go outfits that will save you time in the mornings, but it also needs to look effortlessly professional and make you feel in control. With a few carefully selected items, you can create a framework for your work wardrobe that will feel comfortable, stand the test of time and allow you to focus on your priority list.
These are the 5 key pieces I recommend to make sure you always look polished and professional every day of your working week.

A smart blazer or two
Nothing says “I mean business” quite like tailoring. Blazers and jackets are the backbone of all wardrobes and instantly create an outfit. Even if you are wearing jeans and a tee, throwing on a nicely tailored jacket will pull your look together.
I suggest owning one in a colour that makes your look and feel great, and one neutral such as navy or camel.

2. a shirt dress
Chic, easy and cool (in literal and sartorial terms!) a shirt dress is a great addition to your work wardrobe. The fact it’s based on the traditional shirt makes it super smart and polished and should work in even the most formal offices.
There is a shirt dress out there for everyone, from long to short, striped to plain, bright or neutral. You can layer up in the colder months with a sleeveless jumper.

3. smart wide trousers
These are very elegant and stylish and a surefire way to make your wardrobe look fresh and up-to-date.
It isn’t height dependant, people who are petite or around 5ft 2’ can absolutely wear wide-leg trousers. A high-waisted, wide-leg worn with a heel is a great way to look taller. Some brands do different lengths including Mint Velvet, Me&Em, M&S and Boden. Otherwise it’s pretty easy to get a pair tailored to give the perfect length.

4. A blouse
Linen, silk or good quality cotton are elevated and help to give you that polished, professional appearance.
It will elevate smart jeans, tuck into wide leg trousers and fit well under a blazer.
4. A tote bag
If you have tech and other essentials to carry on your commute, finding a great work bag should be high on your list.
A quality bag with the right length handles will add polish to your look and last for many years.
